The Designers' Point of View

Rosalie Bak:

"Dissectie" is about my love and fascination for medical science. The knowledge, utensils, procedures, but mostly the materials that come from this world. Materials that are meant to heal and protect the human body. And therefore embody a similar symbolism.

Federica Fulici:

My interest in jewellery comes from the desire to escape from the commercial behaviours typical of the sector of industrial design. All my design production is characterized by planning rigor, but always filtered by an ironic eye.

Lola Hesp:

In my project a lamp's look is determined by its genes. No two lamps are the same. This is why they are hand-made. The look of the lamps is part of an evolutionary process. Because the lamps differ in their image-making characteristics, natural selection takes place. This way the most popular genes will be passed on to the next generation.

Liesbeth Huizing:

I designed "beesten" taking as a starting point the impression that the animal leaves behind him. Therefore they have something of mythological creatures. They are like statues, lifeless. In this way they are transformed into products, to be used as sitting elements or tables.

Brunno Jahara:

My designs are a mix of organic shapes with tropical inspiration and humour, among my favourite techniques are heating things, to obtain unique forms, in plastic, glass or rubber, amongst other materials. In this way I obtain different results keeping every piece a special and collectible one.

Daria Shashorina:

In every new project, I am trying to develop the emotional aspect together with the form, function and technology. I prefer clear shapes, bright colors and natural textures, as most of us live in the urban environment and we would always like to be a little closer to nature.

Hunn Wai:

Hailing from the island city-state of Singapore, a melting pot for the colors and flavors of diverse cultures, my design philosophy is drawn towards the processes and results of collisions, combinations and fusions of materials, meanings and forms.
